Listening to local knowledge holders

Nuuk Greenland – One week full of exiting meetings with wonderful and kind people. Thank you for your guidance in advancing our contribution to Greenlandic society.

Hosted by the Greenland Climate Research Center we not only strengthened our scientific cooperations in the Ilisimatusarfik, but we also talked to several local knowledge holders.

Since Harmful Algae Blooms can impact e.g. Human Health and Marine Economy, we want to make our scientific expertise and skills of use to further assess the risk of harm to the Greenlandic livelihood.

This aim not only needs marine studies on HABs but a complete picture with local knowledge e.g.  about current fishing strategies or the local consumptions of mussels. Thankfully we were able to follow some of these storylines guided by local scientists, administrators and Inuit
